Eminem has been passed the final compliment from his rapper mates Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo - they have hailed him as the “godfather of hip-hop”. Fifty Cent’s G-Unit bandmates have been left in astonishment of the rap superstar’s renown after Eminem made it 5 weeks atop the U.S. Albums chart on Wed. with his comeback record Recovery.

The debatable rapper notched up first week sales of 741,000, earning him his 6th successive number one on the Poster advertisement 2 hundred, while his Rihanna song Love how you Lie has topped the singles chart for a second week. Banks insists Eminem’s success is down to his “cult” fan base and he is impressed at the way in which the megastar has managed to stay in contact with his advocates through his private issues.

He tells MTV Stories , “I know he is contented and I am content for him. It’s enormous. Em has a small following and they ain’t ( sic ) going to turn their backs on him… “He brings you into his life. You know about his other half, his youngsters, his best pal. On that last album ( Relapse ), he touched on plenty of those subjects and other private things he had going on, too.

A large amount of folk can relate to it. I feel just like his music is getting more strong. The messages are bigger.” And Yayo is sure Eminem has reaffirmed his standing as a rap icon with his most recent release topping charts around the globe. He says, “Eminem is similar to the godfather of the hiphop game. In a time like this, when records aren’t selling, he is the only one that’s selling. You know, Drake and all of the other ones ( did well ), but Em did ( close to ) 800,000 ( in ) his first week, and he is number one for the 5th week.

It’s phenomenal. “I believe he’s got a true fan base of people that have been following him for a long time. They are not going to stop following him and not stop listening to his music. Em asserted he did not like his last album as much as this one… But Eminem has supporters that is ( sic ) going to mess with him till the day he dies.
