A Purifying Diet for Weight Loss and Health
Our air, food and water contain an astonishing mixture of chemical substances, some of which are toxic to the body even in little quantities, and many of which are strenuous on our body’s natural purifying processes. As well as doing several whole body or intestinal cleanses a year, you can keep up a healthy fit body by nudging your normal daily diet toward a purifying diet. In addition to providing year round body detoxification, a cleansing diet will help you maintain better health, improved energy and mood, and a healthy weight. Many people have reported permanent weight loss with a detoxifying diet.
The most simple way to convert to a cleansing diet for health and weight loss is to consume more fresh fruits and vegetables and limit your intake of fatty foods, processed foods and sugary foods. Here are some suggestions for what to include in your cleansing diet:
2-5 servings of fresh fruit every day. Limit bananas and dried fruits. Dried fruits should be soaked for a few hours. Citrus fruits are among the most cleansing. A morning lemon detox will help you manage body toxicity and digestive function.
2 salads a day, ideally at lunch and dinner.
2 servings of chicken, fish or tofu for your protein. Lean beef now and then.
4 oz. of vegetable juice several times a week. The best vegetables are cucumber, celery, carrot, beets and parsley. If you don’t have time or equipment to make vegetable juice at home, buy it fresh in a large quantity, part it into 2 oz portions and freeze for future use.
Sea vegetables (seaweed) daily or several times a week. Powdered dulse and kelp are easy to use. Granulated seaweeds can be used as a salt substitute.
And, naturally, drink more water. Try to drink a gallon a day of fresh, filtered or distilled water. Some of your daily intake can include unsweetened herbal tea. No sugary drinks. Sodas do not hydrate, they just add more material to your body’s system.
